This website is provided by the Florida Department of Transportation to give residents, business owners, government officials, emergency services, the media and the traveling public information regarding the rehabilitation work to be worker on bridgperformed on SR 64, Manatee Avenue West, over Sarasota Bay, otherwise known as the Anna Maria Island Bridge. You can visit this website to obtain weekly updates regarding project construction, the project history to show how we got to this point, construction schedules, fact sheets and detour information when the bridge closes just to name a few. There's even a section on Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the Project History page. These are questions and comments made during the restructuring of the bridge closure. Project Information

Construction on the Anna Maria Island Bridge is scheduled to begin February 4, 2008, and expected to last for 400 calendar days. The bridge is scheduled to close to vehicular traffic on September 29, 2008, and remain closed until November 13, 2008. See the detour map on the Traffic Updates page. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) hired PB Americas, Inc. as construction managers to oversee the work of the contractor, Quinn Construction, Inc., Palmetto, Florida, and its subcontractors. 

The work on this project includes repair and resurfacing of concrete decks, repair of railings, piles, seawall, rebalancing span, cleaning and painting steel including lead abatement, renovation of control house, reconditioning of drive machinery, replacement of entire electrical power and control system.
