The Old Clock Tower is located near the site where the original Bertie's Landing Restaurant, the Victorian Gothic-style Clock Tower has always been an icon for the old port and a major hub at Waterfront urban design recently.

It 'was the original Port Captain's office closed in 1882. The second floor is a decorative mirror room, where the captain brings to light all the activities of the port should have. Downstairs is a tidal-barmechanism that is used for the level of the river to see. The recovery of the bell tower was completed by the end of 1997.

Robben Island Embarkation building at the end of Quay 5 on Jetty 1 is the start of building for prisoners sent to Robben Island. The battery is Chavon particular importance for the new Clock Tower Precinct development, is the historical basis – the bell tower, also a national monument. Recently, preliminary excavation uncovered a drum part Chavon, which is one of the oldest European structures in South Africa, built in early 1700.

Built in 1714-1725 by the Dutch East India Company was Chavon battery designed to further protect the Cape, together with Fort Knokke and the Amsterdam Battery.

Witnesses battery Chavon described as the most formidable fortresses in Table Bay.

By the mid-19th century, battery Chavon made a number of uses. Besides serving a militaryrole, is used as an isolation and convalescent wing of the old Somerset Hospital. Crew and passengers of vessels affected by infectious diseases such as smallpox is limited to the battery until you feel fit. The battery was still in 1861.

As part of new development, the reserve battery Chavon and part of the ruins are open to the public to visit – and seems a real function of the Clock Tower District.
